PIERRE - A bleeding ulcer that struck him at work last week has temporarily sidelined South Dakota Attorney General
Larry Long.
Long spent the weekend under observation at a hospital in Mitchell after he took ill while running a meeting of the state's Open Government Task Force last Thursday afternoon,
AP reported. He was later diagnosed with a bleeding duodenal ulcer.
The AG should leave the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in the next day or two and is expected to make a full recovery, according to his staff. The 60-year-old Republican has served as South Dakota's attorney general since 1991.
Long staffers added that the AG's office would continue functioning as usual and that other lawyers would take up any pressing matters Long was handling.
