COLUMBUS, Ohio (Legal Newsline)-Disgraced former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann has joined a distinguished group of former AGs who mentor current officeholders.
The Democrat resigned May 14 amid a sexual harassment scandal that rocked the attorney general's office for weeks. Dann stepped down shortly after the state Democratic Party stripped him of their endorsement.
Since his departure, he has reportedly been helping his wife sell dishware through her Internet-based business.
But this week Dann attended the National Association of Attorneys General summer meeting in Providence, R.I., as a member of the organization's Society of Attorneys General Emeriti, or SAGE.
Angelita Plemmer, a spokeswoman for the National Association of Attorneys General, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Dann was welcomed by his former colleagues.
"I've seen him a couple times. He was treated well by his colleagues. He was treated with respect," Plemmer was quoted as saying. "I haven't seen any evidence that he was treated badly."
Dann admitted to an affair with a subordinate May 1 while releasing a 57-page report substantiating allegations of sexual harassment against Dann aide and friend Anthony Gutierrez.
Since leaving office, Dann is the focus of a bevy of investigations, including a probe looking at his campaign finances and how he paid the rent on his Columbus apartment.
Nancy Rogers, dean of Ohio State University's law school, was appointed as acting attorney general by Gov. Ted Strickland.
