RICHMOND (Legal Newsline) - In the time he has left in office, Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell wants the state's Lieutenant Governor to help him out. Then next year, he wants to team together permanently.

Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling will serve as the Co-Chair of McDonnell's Government and Regulatory Reform Task Force. Boling will also chair another group, the Working Group on Infrastructure in Virginia.

"The regulatory and statutory burdens to promptly building roads, bridges, college buildings and other educational facilities must be evaluated," McDonnell said. "It takes too much time and money to build infrastructure in the modern age."

Bolling once had his name thrown around as a possible Republican candidate for Governor in 2009, but said he enjoyed the part-time position of Lt. Gov. because it allowed him to keep his regular job. He is a vice president with Riggs, Councilman, Michaels and Downes, one of the nation's largest independent insurance agencies.

McDonnell, though, will run for Governor as a Republican. He said he looks forward to having his name and Bolling's on a ticket.

The two will get a little practice working together until then.

"I am honored that Attorney General McDonnell has asked me to co-chair the Regulatory Reform Task Force and lead the Working Group on Infrastructure in Virginia," Bolling said.

"The work of the Regulatory Reform Task Force is very important. Government is intended to work for the people of Virginia, not against them; but that is not always the case. Sometimes misguided regulations, or regulations that become antiquated over time, can serve as an impediment to building a better Virginia."
