COLUMBUS, Ohio (Legal Newsline) -- When FBI and other government agents raided an Ohio pharmacy on suspicion of health care fraud, they did so with the help of the Ohio Attorney General's office.

Details are sketchy as to what they were looking for last week at Three Rivers Infusion and Pharmacy Specialists in Coshocton, but Michelle Gatchell, a spokesperson from the Ohio AG's office confirmed, "We are conducting an investigation concerning an allegation of Medicaid fraud. We cannot comment beyond that, including what the allegation is, new discoveries during the investigation, or when the investigation initiated."

However, in an Aug. 27 article in the Zanesville Times Recorder, Gatchell is quoted as saying the raid was the end-result of a year-long investigation into possible health care fraud.

According to its Web site, Three Rivers provides infusion therapy services for patients in their homes both in Ohio and adjacent states.

Richard Blake, a partner with the Cleveland office of Bricker & Eckler, said he was hired by Three Rivers following the raid. Despite not having met with his clients personally yet, Blake described employees at Three Rivers as "shocked" by last week's events.

Because the affidavit for the search warrant is sealed, which Blake said is not uncommon, he said, "I don't know what they were looking for."
