TALLAHASSE, Fla. (Legal Newsline) - Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum is one of three current state attorneys general who received some bad news in recent Rasmussen Reports polls.
A Wednesday poll shows McCollum's lead over Democratic Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink has slimmed a bit, dropping from an 11-percent advantage to just 5. He had been leading 46-35, but now leads 44-39, the poll says.
Both are trying to replace Gov. Charlie Crist, a Republican who is running for U.S. Senate.
In Michigan, state Attorney General Mike Cox would have the toughest job of all three Republicans defeating Democratic Lt. Gov. John Cherry in next year's governor's race.
Though Cox would win 39-34, two other Republicans, U.S. Rep. Peter Hoekstra and Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard would fare better, the poll shows.
In Georgia, former Gov. Roy Barnes is leading the race for the Democratic nomination. State Attorney General Thurbert Baker is trailing Barnes by 31 percent, the poll shows.
