SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Legal Newsline)-California attorney general hopeful Chris Kelly has put another $2 million into his race, bringing the total that the former Facebook executive has given to his campaign to $4 million.

Kelly gave his campaign the first $2 million at the end of December.

He is one of six Democrats running in June's Democratic primary for attorney general. There are three candidates vying for the Republican nomination.

Among the AG candidates are politically well-heeled state legislators and local officials. In a statement on his campaign Web site, Kelly said this week that he is not an establishment candidate.

"I'm committed to running a substantial and competitive campaign for California attorney general," Kelly said. "I'm not an 'establishment' candidate, I'm not going to be beholden to special interests, and I'm not afraid to spend my own money to change the direction of California."

Kelly is hoping to succeed Democrat Jerry Brown as the state's chief legal officer. Brown is running for governor this year.
