CINCINNATI (Legal Newsline) - Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced a lawsuit on Friday against a Hamilton-based roofing company for multiple alleged violations of Ohio consumer law, including failure to deliver.

Joshua Salyers is a contractor for storm-damage roofing doing business as Salyers Complete Contracting LLC in Hamilton and other Ohio counties. In complaints filed with DeWine's office, consumers said they paid Salyers Complete Contracting between $1,350 and $13,000 to repair, install or replace their roof. The complaints said that after making the payment, the business either did no work or performed shoddy work.

"Consumers gave this business large down payments to repair or replace their roofs, but in turn, the business did substandard and shoddy work," DeWine said. "In some cases, it did no work at all. Despite multiple attempts by my office, the business failed to resolve these issues out of court, leaving us no choice but to file this lawsuit."

The lawsuit alleges that Salyers Complete Contracting and Joshua Salyers violated Ohio's Consumer Sales Practices act on multiple occasions. The alleged violations include falsely stating that work was covered by a warranty, making misrepresentations, performing shoddy work and failure to deliver. The lawsuit seeks civil penalties, consumer restitution and injunctive relief.
