CHICAGO — Several nursing facilities are suing the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Felicia F. Norwood and Teresa Hursey for allegedly violating the law

The plaintiffs filed a complaint on Dec. 18 in the Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants did not follow proper procedures when denying their applications for supportive living facilities to operate dementia care units.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages as a result of the denial of their applications. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to follow the proper legal procedures.

The plaintiffs seek a permanent injunction and require the defendants to grant the plaintiffs a face-to-face interview prior to making a decision on their applications for the dementia care program, require the defendant to grant the plaintiffs a hearing with adequate notice if requested by the plaintiffs on any denial of their dementia care program, court costs and any further relief this court grants.
