HOUSTON — While engaged in “recreational activities” at the “behest” of Bubble Bump, a man allegedly fell into a “hazardous” drainage ditch and injured himself.
Alleging gross negligence, Chavar Watkins filed suit against Bubble Bump Houston, Enterprise Holdings and Harris County Precinct 4 on Aug. 22 in Harris County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on March 26, 2024, Watkins was at Bear Creek Pioneer Park and participating in recreational activities at the behest of Enterprise and Bubble Bump.
“During the recreational activities, Plaintiff fell into a hazardous drainage ditch and sustained serious bodily injury,” the suit states, adding that Harris County was responsible for maintaining the promises but failed to do so.
Watkins is suing for punitive damages.

A woman is seeking more than $1 million damages from Hilton for injuries she allegedly received after tripping over a lamp cord two years ago.
Eileen Erwin filed suit against Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Woodbranch Investments and American Liberty Hospitality on Aug. 22 in Harris County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 23, 2023, Erwin was at the hotel. There was a lamp placed on a side table in a sitting area in the lobby that was plugged into an exposed floor-mounted outlet in the middle of the walkway.
“There was no signage or other warning provided that would have reasonably put Plaintiff on notice that there was a random outlet and cable protruding out of the floor in the walkway,” the suit states. “Plaintiff tripped and violently fell over the exposed outlet and cable. And, as a result, immediately began experiencing severe pain and discomfort throughout her body.”
Erwin is alleging gross negligence.

A woman is claiming a wobbly stairwell handle caused her to slip and fall.
Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Charlene Freeman filed suit against Abbey Residential on Aug. 23 in Harris County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on May 21 Freeman was descending the stairs at her apartment and the stairwell handle was “loose and wobbled.”
“While coming down the stairs, Plaintiff slipped and fell due to the unsafe stairwell handle, sustaining injuries,” the suit states, adding that Freeman had complained and submitted a maintenance request prior to the incident.
Freeman is suing for Exemplary damages.
